Relief in disasters or different emergency situations was always part of SERVOME’s mission. Faced with new challenges, a rethinking of this area was carried out in 2014. Currently we seek to support and motivate greater involvement of local churches within their communities.
This is how the “IMSE” unit was formed, which means “Churches Mobilizing in Emergency Situations” (In Spanish: Iglesias Movilizándose en Situaciones de Emergencia). In the event of a disaster (fires, storms, floods, diseases, etc.), an “IMSE” base team can mobilize and coordinate action with the local church of the affected community, together with municipal or state entities, as is the National Emergency Secretary.
